Displaying Hi-Color Icons without the Plus Pack

Start Regedit
  1. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ desktop \ WindowMetrics
  2. Add or edit Shell Icon BPP=16 where the number is the color depth.
  3. The default is 8 (bit or 256 colors).
