- Then open the Registry Editor and add the key "ShellNew" under the extension related to that document (ie. .BAS, .ORG, .DXF)
- Add a new substring and name it Filename
- Double-click Filename and type the name of the blank document you just saved.
- Now you can right-click on the desktop, select New and you’ll see the option to create a document-type icon for the application you just selected.
I have found a lot of variations and options on this tip.
